Cartridge and Printer Care

To install your cartridge simply remove clip or cap from base of ink cartridge (if applicable).

Insert cartridge into printer; ensure cartridge firmly and securely locks into place.

Press OK, yes, close, etc. to bypass any nuisance messages that may appear.
Please Note: You may experience “alerts” from your printer when using refilled cartridges. These nuisance messages are simply deterrents created by manufacturers and can be bypassed by pressing “OK”, “proceed”, “continue”, “accept”, etc. Stop the process if an “Unrecognized Cartridge”, “Cartridge Error”, “Incompatible Cartridge” or “Replace Cartridge” message appears and return the problematic printer ink cartridge to Fry's for further evaluation. (See table below)

Printer Cartridge Will printer ink levels be visible? If not, our suggestion(s) Common Issues and Resolutions
HP 88 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Unrecognized" alert is present then return to Fry's for chip replacement. For HP 02 error "Missing or Damaged" or "Expired Ink" alerts, return to Fry's and request chip replacement. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
HP 21, 22, 27, 28, 54, 56, 60, 61, 62, 63, 65, 74, 75, 92-98, 901 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. Print until quality fades. "Cartridge Error" or "Incompatible" error messages likely due to an electrically damaged cartridge. Return to Fry's for refund and replace with a new cartridge.
HP 940 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. Print until quality fades. Activate internal test print to check colour availability. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
HP 564, 920, 932, 933, 934, 935, 950, 951 YES, except for an initial "Non HP Cartridge Installed" message. For "Missing or Damaged" or "Ink Empty" message, return to Fry's and request weight check and/or chip replacement. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean. For 564/920 quality issues, leave cartridges in printer for 48 hours to allow ink to fully absorb into foam, then retest.
Canon 3, 5, 8, 220, 221, 225, 226, 250, 251 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Not Recognized" alert is present then return to Fry's for chip reprogramming. For "Ink Out" message, return to Fry's and request weight check. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Canon 30, 31, 40, 41, 50, 51, 210, 211, 240, 241, 245, 246, 270, 271 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. A printer reset will be required - press and hold "Stop" or "Stop/Resume" button for 10 seconds. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Epson 68, 69, 88, 97-99, 124-127, 200, 220, 252 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Replace Cartridge" alert is present then return to Fry's for chip reprogramming. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean. NOTE: Do not remove the small black plug which was installed into cartridges top during refilling.
Brother 61, 65, 71, 75, 79 YES. Will function the same as original cartridge once all cartridges have been refilled. NOTE: 60/70s do not have chips. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Brother 101, 103, 105, 107, 109, 201, 203, 205, 207, 209 YES. Will function the same as original cartridge once refilled and chip has been reprogrammed. "Ink Out" or "Not Detected" errors, return for chip reprogramming. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
